We’re a little late for this one and we apologize! Last month we got too busy to present you with a Nashville Rockstar. So for the month of June we will feature two! This is the first, and it will be Tandy Wilson. After he won the James Beard Award on May 2, how could we not? He is the only Nashville chef to win the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southeast. What an honor to bring home the trophy to Nashville and bring attention to his restaurant, City House. It’s not his first nomination, which is an honor in its own right. He has been nominated for Best Chef: Southeast multiple years including 2013, 2014, and 2015. And that’s not all. His name appears all the time in Bon Appétit and was named “Best New Chef in the Southwest” by Food & Wine Magazine.
We love Nashville Rockstar Tandy Wilson, not just because of his talent, but what his talent is doing for Nashville. Lately, Nashville has been receiving great claim as a food city. Without innovators like Tandy Wilson, none of the recognition for Music City would be possible. We should take pride in our chefs and how they are being looked at from the rest of the world. Most importantly cherish them, and head to their restaurants for an amazing experience.
Now let’s talk about his restaurant – City House. Located in Germantown, this unique experience offers a laid back atmosphere and farm-to-table cuisine that provides an authentic taste of what Nashville has to offer. The building was once owned by the sculptor Alan LeQuire who created Athena Parthenos and Musica. The menu is always a mix of great Italian cuisine inspired and influenced by the American South. The pizza selection is amazing, and we highly recommend you give one a try if you go.
