148. Middle Tennessee Highland Games

Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage: Home of the People’s President is putting on a authentic festival that would make the 7th President proud. After a 10-year hiatus the Middle Tennessee Highland Games is back! It’s perfect, too. As Andrew Jackson was a Scotch-Irish descendant so where better to have the Highland Games?10711099_802316023153682_5452012706354423168_n

During the festival, athletes will participate in traditional Scottish athletics like the stone put, caber toss, sheaf toss, and hammer throw. And they do it in kilts. Also, music will be played by such bands as the Barrenhard, Feckless Fear Dearg, The Nashville Celts, and more. By the way, these bands don’t mess around. Full on bag pipes, and traditional music will provide the tunes for you to dance to all day long. There will also be face painting stations, historic crafts, Scottish children toys, and more for the little ones to enjoy. If your stomach starts growing just head to Scottish & American Food and Drink, or Whitt’s BBQ who will be on site and ready to serve. All the fun takes place on September 12, and we hope to see you there! See below for a full schedule.
