56. Martin's BBQ Joint

If you are up for a little drive for some great barbeque, then take that trip to Martin’s BBQ Joint. Located just outside of Nashville, Martin’s is the brainchild of Patrick Martin, owner and pitmaster. His signature recipe is the West Tennessee Whole Hog, but everything on the menu is prepared with time and care (down to the 20+ hour process of slow roasting the pig). No short cuts are taken here.

Try the pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked chicken, or my favorite the Redneck Taco (starts with a plate sized piece of cornbread then top it off with pork, sauce, and cole slaw. Some roll it up like a taco).

From the moment you drive into the parking lot, you can smell the smoky, hickory goodness coming from the kitchen.

Something is special about this barbeque. This is evident by Patrick being invited last year as the first pitmaster from Tennessee to cook at the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party in Times Square.

This place is great. I suggest anyone going there for the 1st time to try the Alabama White Sauce. I drove by a few weeks ago and Martin’s had not re-opened but will give an update on this site when it has again.

Martin’s is the best BBQ in Nashville. Hands down. (although they’re in Nolensville, not Nashville as it says above… be prepared for a bit of a drive – but it’s worth it!) And they’re new location is open (as of a few weeks ago) and every time I’ve been there it has been packed. I’ll second the greatness of the redneck taco! I have problems trying new things on the menu because the redneck is legit.

  3. I think this place is going to be featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on Food Network soon – Guy Fieri stopped in there a couple of weeks ago.

    SO exciting!
