“As I headed to the Gulch on a stormy Tennessee night, I was reminded of two points I’d learnt real quick about Nashville: everyone loves their small talk – there’s no such thing as an awkward silence in a hotel elevator or cab ride downtown – and music is the thread they weave this place from. Of course you’d expect that, it’s Nashville for crying out loud – there are hundreds of venues and dozens of acts playing every night of the week…but to pigeon-hole Nashville as being all slide guitars and honky tonks is a disservice to the city. Unless you’re in town for longer than a few days, you’re barely going to scratch the surface of what’s on offer.”
