Mumford & Sons recently played 3 nights of sold-out shows at the Ryman Auditorium March 6-8. They were very happy to be in Nashville as their website noted Nashville “having long represented a sort of spiritual home for our 4 London lads.” So happy, in fact, that 3 sold-out concerts were not enough. They ended up playing a kind-of secret show at The Basement after their last performance at the Ryman. (This is not the first time for this kind of appearance at The Basement. Metallica packed the place back in 2008 on their way to Bonnaroo.)
Members of Mumford & Sons, Dawes, Apache Relay, Deer Tick, Colorfeels, Jonny Corndawg and John Rich were amidst the tight crowd jamming out and taking names. The Basement is not a large place. It’s a basement. Really. Underneath one of the coolest record stores in the country – Grimey’s.
Just imagine: some of the hottest players in music and all the fans that can fit. In a basement. Such a real Music City experience.

I was there. Quite possibly one of the greatest nights in Nashville – Mumford at the Ryman and then this. You don’t have experiences like this in other cities. I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
