So, it’s not technically Nashville – but just a short drive down the road. In 1995, Franklin received one of five “Great American Main Street” awards in an annual competition held by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Since then, accolades have included the “Best Small Town in Tennessee,” “America’s Most Romantic Main Street” and “One of America’s Greatest Antique Destinations.” There are unique shops and great restaurants to stroll in and out of all along Main Street. It’s cute and friendly and a lovely afternoon, just 15 miles down Interstate 65 from Nashville.
