317.2. Monell’s

For real Southern food, you must try Monell’s. Fried chicken, corn pudding, biscuits, catfish, banana pudding and the list goes on. Everything’s family-style. So, you sit at large tables with other people and pass the dishes. But unlike eating at home, the plates are bottomless. They will bring more out until you’ve utterly stuffed yourself. At their Germantown location, the seating is family-style as well. If 2 of you go, you’ll sit at a table with maybe 6-10 other people. If you go with a large group, you might get a table all to yourselves. But you may have to wait. They don’t take reservations (not even for Oprah, so we hear!). It’s yummy and so worth the nap you’ll want to take afterwards. Check their website for locations and hours.
