Varallo’s is known for their warm soul food like barbecue pork, country-fried steak, meatloaf, fried chicken and most famously, their chile. The downtown Nashville staple turns 104 this year. They opened in 1907 and have been serving Music City’s hungry masses for four generations. The restaurant relies solely on taste and service; it’s a no-frills cafeteria-style joint. They’re celebrating their 104th birthday on Tuesday, November 15 at 10am by cutting the “chile cake” at their restaurant in downtown Nashville. It’s a great time to go if you’ve never been so you can see what all the 104 years of fuss is all about. And it’s a great time to go if you’ve been many times so you can sing Happy Birthday to the chile parlor.
