234.2. Bell Witch Cave

One of the most famous ghost stories in American history originates just down the road from Nashville – in Adams, TN. The legend of the Bell Witch goes back as far as 1817. It’s said that the spirit, or witch, of Kate Batts then began tormenting John Bell and his family at their home and farm (and cave) and continued for three years until Bell died in 1820. She’s come back to the area since. Some say she’s never left, due to strange things that have occurred in Adams and at the Bell Witch Cave. The Bell Witch Cave is on the National Historic Registry and is the very land where the Bell Witch haunts. the cafe is open for tours throughout the year but special tours of the cave and farm are offered in October. Guests can take a cave or cabin tour, a haunted hayride and get a psychic reading. Check the website for times and prices. Get ready to get scared.
