It’s the annual celebration of summer’s nightshade – the tomato. The Tomato 5K starts from East Nashville’s Five Points in the early hours this Saturday, August 13. Then on to the tastings, the competitions, displays and fun. There’s a KidFest with inflatables and a water slide. There’s a parade, live music and a Tomato Bazaar. In the way of competition, there’s a cornhole tournament, Bobbing for Tomatoes, a Faux Paw Fashion Show, Biggest/Littlest/Ugliest Tomato Contest, Beautiful Tomato Contest, Bloody Mary Competition, Recipe Contest and even a Wet Burrito Contest. And, of course, the Tomato Art. Kids’ art, family art, bicycle art – Tomato Art! It’s free and open to the public.
