40.2. Iroquois Steeplechase

Steeplechase is my absolute favorite event in Nashville. I mean, how can you not love horse races, a huge tailgate and of course, big hats? This Nashville tradition has been going strong for 70 years and is not only incredibly fun, it’s for a good cause with proceeds going to the Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The event is on Saturday, May 14th and starts at 8am with the first race beginning at 1pm. General admission is $15 and can be bought at the gate or early online. There are also tailgating tickets which are pricier but allow access to the tailgate area. If you’re tailgating, make sure to bring plenty of snacks, beverages, chairs and sunscreen.
