36.2. The Arcade

One of downtown’s hidden treasures is the Arcade. It’s not a video game arcade, but a covered pedestrian walkway lined with shops, restaurants and art galleries built in 1902 to mimic the arcades in Europe. There’s a small convenience store, a post office, cupcake shop, restaurants with seating outside to watch passerby’s, a beauty salon and more on the lower level. The upper level houses art galleries which many people visit during the First Saturday Art Crawl, a free art crawl the first Saturday of each month.
