6.2. Belle Meade Plantation


Belle Meade Plantation started in 1807 and had developed into a thoroughbred horse farm by 1816. Belle Meade produced many famous horses such as Priam and Bonnie Scotland whose descendants include Northern Dancer, Never Say Die and Secretariat. The plantation’s prime years of horse breeding was finished by the early 1900s. Today, you can still visit the plantation and the Greek-revival style mansion. There are tours daily with the last tour starting at 4pm and there are events going on throughout the year. Admission ranges from $16 to $8 with children under 5 getting in free.
