The Hermitage is one of Nashville’s historical treasures being the home of our nation’s 7th president, Andrew Jackson. The house along with surrounding property was purchased in 1804 from Nathaniel Hays. After some touchups to the house and the land was cleared for the growing of cotton, Andrew and his wife Rachel moved in. In 1889, the Hermitage was opened as a museum and since that time over 15 million people have toured the famous buildings and grounds.
The Hermitage offers amazing guided tours full of information about the architecture, the Jacksons and the history. This a great place for people of all ages and is well worth a trip. Parking is free.
