Fort Nashborough is a replica of the original Nashville setttlement on the banks of the Cumberland River. James Robertson led a team of pioneers in 1779 to the French Lick and renamed it Fort Nashborough after French General Francis Nash, who won great acclaim in the American Revolution. In 1780, John Donelson led a second group of settlers to the area. The fort was built for protection against Native American attacks.
The fort is located next to Riverfront Park and you can do self-guided tours from 9am to 4pm everyday. Admission is free.
