55. Dragon Park

As most places will be closed today and Sunday brunch across the city will be packed, today is a great day to spend the afternoon at the Dragon Park.

The centerpiece of this park is Pedro Silva’s mosaic sea serpent, which features hundreds of personal designs including faces, birds, alien creatures, flowers, and animals. All are made of cut or chipped tiles painted by local artists. The dragon is as fun to climb on as it is to look at.

There are plenty of picnic tables and a pavilion to enjoy a picnic. There is a lot of open area to throw a football or sit and relax under one of the mature trees and waste a few hours at this rare urban park.

There is no designated parking lot, but there is enough street space to park and walk over.

  1. that’s pretty sweet. I’ll have to check that out when I’m back in Nashville during football season.
