Since today is cold and rainy (just when you thought it was Spring), we will feature an indoor activity. Bongo Java Roasting Company is an independent and locally owned coffee roaster that produces coffee from all organic beans bought from small farmer groups at or above Fair Trade prices. There are two Bongo Java’s in Nashville along with a few other cafes that Bob Bernstein has opened.
What makes the Bongo Java East Nashville location unique is the fact that it is a cafe as well as a roasting factory. So while you are enjoying your fresh coffee, you can watch the Roast Master and crew creating the perfect coffee beans for you. The roasting process takes place right there in front of you. The smell of the coffee being produced can be smelled and enjoyed throughout the neighborhood.
Bongo Java Roasting Company started in 1996 to supply coffee beans to Bob Bernstein’s other cafes around town. Now, they supply the coffee to places all over Nashville for you to enjoy. The coffee is roasted in small batches on a 50 year old cast iron German roaster.
They are a founding member of Cooperative Coffees, an organization that allows small roasters to buy directly from smaller coffee farmers.
In addition to enjoying your favorite coffee and experiencing the coffee roasting process, the cafe has a great menu for breakfast and lunch that will not disappoint.
